My 1st Chemo Treatment

My 1st Chemo Treatment

1st Chemo Treatment

July 9-10, 2015 (Thursday): My First Chemotherapy Session (1 or 6)

Well, here I am, at the end of a long week sitting in a comfortable chair at Comprehensive Cancer Center (St. Rose) with a machine next to me administering the vital Chemo that is needed to fight the cancer in my body.

Monday: Chemotherapy Orientation Class
Tuesday: CatScan and Blood Draw
Wednesday: PowerPort Surgery; Cut, Style and Color and Favorite Dinner.
Thursday: Chemo Therapy
Friday: Hydration Therapy

I would suggest you do a few things before your chemo… get a new hair cut, something new…. go to your favorite restaurant and eat all you want… have a dessert…. do everything …. enjoy yourself… even maybe go to a spa and have a massage or facial…. forget about the cancer and focus on you for the moment. Empower yourself !!!!!

People will tell you there are two days of Chemo but in truth, you have about 4-6hrs of chemo therapy and then the next day, you come for hydration that last about the same amount of time depending on your hydration needs. The morning after your first chemo therapy session, you will feel a little rundown and maybe you don’t feel like eating or something doesn’t taste good that normally world (get us to that). Once they start hydration, you will begin to feel better and as hydration continues, you will begin to feel your old self and even in some cases, feel better than normal.

FYI, some people do not get sick, some only get a little nauseated but for me the day after (Saturday & Sunday) my first chemo and hydration I began to feel like I had the flu. I could not hold down anything, even water was an issue so the doctor scheduled me to come come back Monday for my hydration.

I listened to this song everyday while I was going through the rough and tough days. Hope it empowers you as it did me.
